Qualifications:
A bit about me.
I am a stay at home mum of 2 toddler boys, a part-time naturopathy student, podcaster, doula and self proclaimed tea snob.
Alternative medicine has had guest appearances all through my life. I (like many other women) had exhausted all other options when it came to treating my chronic menstrual problems and infertility. I had amazing success with alternative therapies and felt genuinely seen and heard where other health professionals had labeled me as a lost cause. I come from a background of hairdressing and nursing which blended my love of building personal relationships and science, and after re-evaluating my priorities in the transformation of motherhood, I decided that I would like to learn the craft of naturopathy to improve my own health, the health of my family and the other women in my life.
I dream of one day setting up a homestead with a glorious veggie patch, an army of chickens, renovating a charming queenslander DIY-style with my husband and our boys, having my own little naturopathy clinic on the property and servicing the women in my local community. I am an extrovert with a huge collection of health related self-help books that feed the book goblin inside me, and the next step was to start consuming knowledge on a tertiary scale.
I think women are incredible and I want to give them the time, care and attention they deserve when listening to their health concerns. I always thought I was going to become a midwife or a nurse, but through experience I have realised that the profession that most aligns with my personal morals and values is naturopathy. I believe in providing evidence based care, placing merit in personal testimony, addressing the cause of disease (not just the symptoms), and encouraging the body’s innate ability to heal itself.
My doula work is an extension of this belief, allowing me to serve the individual needs of women as they journey through the medical model of care, whilst supporting the trust and belief in her body’s innate ability to grow, birth and heal.
Weaving Naturopathy and Doula work
My aim is to support women through every stage of their life. I am here for the maiden who may be having difficulties with her digestion, menstrual cycle, anxiety and skin imbalances. I am here for the mother who is beginning her preconception journey, may be undergoing fertility treatments, who is nourishing a pregnancy, needs support through her loss, or has emerged on the other side needing nurturing and guidance as she navigates her postpartum changes. I am here for the peri and post-menopausal women who wish to work with their natural body processes instead of suppressing them. And I am here for our children, as they are an extension of us with their own unique health requirements.
This support comes in many forms including,
Emotional and spiritual support through my doula services.
Physical and medicinal support through my naturopathy practices.
